It's PSRS Appreciation Day!

June 1st 2018 marks the third annual PSRS Appreciation Day declared by the Mayor of Renton, Dennis Law, in February of 2016.  PSRS was founded in 1983 by current board member Jackie Blair, and parent to an individual supported by PSRS, Barbara Ross (becoming an official 501(c)(3) non profit in 1985).  Initially supporting just a few people with developmental and intellectual disabilities, we have come a long way since then, now with almost 70 people living in the community and about 250 staff providing support.  You can celebrate PSRS Appreciation Day with a donation, a Facebook post, or another kind gesture acknowledging PSRS' 35 years of dedicated service connecting people with their communities.

What does PSRS Appreciation Day mean?  We wanted to recognize that our organization has been part of the Renton landscape for over 30 years, contributing to the local community through our services to the individuals we support, as an employer, and as a patron of other local businesses.  We have been helping to build an inclusive, integrative, and more diverse community.

PSRS does valuable work - we want people to know that.  June 1st marks an opportunity for us all to celebrate PSRS' accomplishments, and to celebrate our growing organization for the contributions it continues to make.  We plan to make this a special day next year...stay tuned.
